ALLEGRA BOVERMAN/Gloucester Daily Times A fruit bat named Echo was shown as part of a "Creatures of the Night" program at Sawyer Free Library in Gloucester on Wednesday as part of the summer reading program. Mona Headon of Critters 'N Creatures of Merrimack showed various nocturnal animals including a scorpion and its baby, a ball python, a four-eyed opossum, a gecko, an armadillo and other animals. Looking closely at the fruit bat are from left: August Watson and his twin sister Pyper Watson, both 5, and Drew Chouinard, 5, all of Gloucester.
