With every painting bringing back a memory, Betty Lou Schlemm pauses to look at an image of men working on the docks in Gloucester's Fort neighborhood. When Schlemm was young she used to paint there while floating in her father's skiff. But this particular scene, she said, was inspired by a photograph.
