Rockport: Coalter Palmer, a Rockport Middle School incoming eighth grader, looks at photos of the Andromeda Galaxy with William Waller, a physical sciences teacher at Rockport High School on Tuesday during a three-week long NASA workshop led by Waller. This week they are exploring the larger cosmos and on Tuesday, were learning about the nearest galaxies, dark matter and other topics. They and senior John Scarpaci were drawing miniature versions of the Milky Way, the Andromeda galaxy and another nearby galaxy known as M33, and arranging them in the classroom proportionally to how they appear in the cosmos. They were also discussing constellations and dark matter.
