Veterans Memorial Elementary School students were harvesting a variety of greens on Wednesday from their gardens and then were to eat them in salad for lunch on Thursday. They also planted seeds for beans that they will harvest in the fall. Second graders Ethan Johnson, middle, and Daunika Billante, right, plant Maine yellow eye beans with the help of Lara Lepionka of Backyard Growers, who is in charge of the garden there and at the other city elementary school now.
