World War II veteran Michael Linquata, 91, waves to well-wishers while being recognized Monday at the VFW Post 1624 in Gloucester following the 2018 VFW Golf Open in his honor. Linquata was a 19-year-old Army combat medic in January of 1945, when he and 20 wounded men in his care were taken prisoner by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge. He spent three months in a German prisoner of war camp before being liberated by advancing U.S. troops. He returned home to Gloucester, where he and his father established the Gloucester House restaurant.
