ALLEGRA BOVERMAN/Gloucester Daily Times Don Brown of Beverly holds tight to a kayak in his vehicle as his wife drives out of the Essex Landing on Friday afternoon. They were kayaking from Ipswich to Essex and left a car at the other end but forgot ropes to secure the kayak, and a few other things. They were very carefully driving back the short distance to the other car to get the rope. They did have a nice kayaking jaunt on the Essex River.
